This was inspired mainly by Halo. I was flipping through the bonus booklet you get with the halo 3 limited edition, and found some neat facts about the Jackals homeworld. I used that as my sole inspiration and here's the finished product!! Took me 2 hours alone just to paint the city lights on the moon and a tremendous amount of time to make the moon itself look perrrty. Enjoy my fellow space art and halo fans!

Photoshop, photographs, and Wacom Cintique.

STOCK! Thanks to :iconpriteeboy: for provided the beautiful gas giant texture! Stock link here... [link]

Well I think so! There's just certain pieces I feel complete about and other not so much. I actually only have 3 good ones I think and that's it.

3 good ones? Is your vision okay? Because there's more than 3 good in your gallery. If it wasn't too late here right now, i would list'em here.

I thought an ad popped up on the right there for a second :XD:

Great colour, I like the smooth orange glow of the sun, very relaxing actually :sun: The city lights came out very realistically, you can see where the continents end because of them :D

Im upset because i accidentally flattened that moon with the cities and saved it so i cant edit it. The shadow is a bit too dark and the lights are too bright.

And I'm glad you noticed! In the upper left of the planets i tried to make it seem like the border between the ocean and land.

Eh, sometimes there's such thing as being too cautious with layers anyway, I hear of people who make a new layer for every little thing and up with PSD's with 100+ layers :faint: sometimes I merge and flatten too and have regrette dit occasionally, but I just take it as a learning experience and move on =p

Easy for me to say though since the first 5 years of my digital art life were on Paint Shop Pro 6 which didn't even have layers, so I drew a lot of stuff on one layer :O

yuck one layer. I use photoshop, so many pieces are 45+ layers. Flattening the image before saving it sometimes alters key features which i cannot allow.

At the very first moment I thought you'd have used a fractal for the city... Damn, this piece is just awesome!

Fantastic! I love the warm orange you've used here. The details on the moon itself are great, placing them in the dark side. The interface or Heads up Display on the right is quite inspired too.

Awesome stuff!

Yes i agree with you on that. Sadly, I flattened the image i made for the planet so i cant adjust the shadow.

Wow this is really far out! You should try your hands out on some Mass effect 2 planets or systems, it would give you more expierence some them are very well detailed.

Mass effect is what got me inspired in space art. So most of these are inspired by it.
