Legacy by arisechicken117 Legacy by arisechicken117
It's been awhile since I've posted any space art, So here ya go!

I was really inspired by a lot of timelapse videos and footage from the ISS. Also wanted to try out an eclipse like you see here- Pretty good for my first time I think :D

Enjoy!

UPDATE:

Lightened shadow on foreground planet, added "night sky" light over shadowed area, slightly tweaked colors, added another moon.

Thanks man. I like the desert moon the most out of the image. Kind of oddly contrasts all the blue

Oh.. Another thing, I mistaken the planet's texture as the cloud texture :/ May I know how did you make it feel like 3D?

Use an emboss filter. Copy the land layer, set it to overlay, and go to fliter>special effects (er something near the bottom)>emboss

Nice but the close up planet didn't need the shade :)

Well it was suppose to be eclipsing the planet, so the shade would be there, but I think i made it too dark. I'm going to revise it soon

No no if there's an eclipse the planet will still have brightness on the edge so when the edge part is close like this it will seem bright normal and the more close the less shade you need to put! I suggest if you just keep checking close up earth so you'd improve yourself more.

Looks very good, I think the previously mentioned 'flatness" of the main planet could be because the transition from day to night is still too sudden for a view this close to it. Perhaps make that gradient softer and extend further out a bit

The feel of the moon shadow passing over is really cool though 8-)

Yeah, I do think the shadow on the right is a bit too intense. I shall dim it. The planet is sooo hard to make it look like a large spherical object up close instead of a "flat-earth"

Pretty awesome man. The foreground feels kind of flat to me. But it looks great none the less.

Yeah, its really hard to warp a flat texture into an immensely spherical object. I have been unsuccessful it doing it accurately without creating tremendous and ugly pixelization :/

The flat horizon makes me think of one of the "super-earths" discovered by the exoplanet surveys. While more massive terrestrial worlds may be difficult environments for life to gain a foothold because of high gravity and pressure their moons may be a different story.
